Voice Area
The
voice area offers students a wide variety of classes and performance
experiences. Courses are offered in applied voice, lyric diction, repertoire,
opera workshop, vocal/choral pedagogy and various choral ensembles. Members
of the voice faculty perform regularly
both on campus and with many distinguished opera companies, orchestral
ensembles and other performing organizations throughout the country.
Each year, students in the voice area are recognized for excellence
during the regional conference of the National Association of Teachers
of Singing.
Currently,
the Voice Area has 85 undergraduate and graduate majors. SFA voice
students are consistent winners at the Student Auditions of the Texoma
Region of NATS and have won the prestigious Singer of the Year and
Grady Harlan Awards. SFA voice alumni have sung and taught throughout
the world in such venues as the Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna Staatsoper,
Paris Opera, Monte Carlo Opera, Michigan State University, the University
of Denver, the University of Kansas, the University of Texas at San
Antonio, the University of Tennessee, and countless public schools.
