Background
DAVID CAMPO is
the Associate Director of Bands and Director of the Lumberjack
Marching Band at Stephen F. Austin State University. He received
a Bachelor of Music Education degree and a
Master of Music degree in Theory and Composition from
Louisiana State University. He recently completed his Doctor
of Musical Arts in Instrumental Conducting from the University of
Oklahoma.
Prior
to his appointment at Stephen F. Austin State University, Dr. Campo
was a conducting associate for the University of Oklahoma Wind
Symphony and a graduate teaching assistant for the Pride of Oklahoma
Marching Band at the University of Oklahoma. Prior to that, he
was the Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette
where he supervised all aspects of The Pride of Acadiana Marching
Band, The Sixth Man Basketball Band, and the University Concert
Band. Dr. Campo has also been the Assistant Director of Jazz Band
at Nichols State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. In addition,
he has been the Director of Bands at Thibodaux High School, Erath
High School, and Port Allen Middle School in Louisiana.
Dr. Campo
has received national and international recognition as a composer
and arranger. He has been commissioned to write works for the Southwest
Louisiana Band Directors Association, the Acadiana Symphony, and
the University of Southwestern Louisiana Wind Ensemble. His music
has been published by Alfred Publishing in Los Angeles and MSB
Publishing in Chantilly, Virginia.

Background
FRED J. ALLEN was appointed Director of Bands at Stephen F. Austin State
University in June 1994. In addition to his work with the bands,
he also teaches conducting and music education classes. Allen has
also taught at Abilene Christian University (1987-94) and in Texas
public schools at North Richland Hills (1979-87) and Dimmitt (1976-79).
Allen
is a product of Music Education in the state of Texas. Before playing
in the Longview High School Band of John C. "Pete" Kunkel,
he was in the bands of Verna Covington and David Pennington in Austin
and Don Turner, Paul Stroud and Jimmy Yancey in Longview. His undergraduate
studies with Dr. Charles Trayler, then at Abilene Christian University,
furthered his training in Music Education.
Allen
is a frequent clinician and adjudicator in Texas and the Southwest.
Working as a clinician with bands from every age level keeps him current
in trends in public school bands.

BRETT A. RICHARDSON is the Assistant Director of Bands at Stephen F. Austin State University where he conducts the Symphonic Band, assists with the Lumberjack Marching Band, directs the “Roarin’ Buzzsaws” Basketball Pep Bands, and teaches various courses for the School of Music. He holds a Master of Music degree in Wind Conducting from Texas A&M University-Commerce (formerly East Texas State University) under Brad Kent and Jeff Gershman and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Stephen F. Austin State University under Fred J. Allen. His applied euphonium teachers have included Deb Scott, J. Mark Thompson, and Jimmy Clark.
Prior to his appointment at Stephen F. Austin State University, Mr. Richardson taught instrumental music in the public schools of Texas at Downing Middle School (Lewisville Independent School District) in Flower Mound with Mr. Steve Smith and at Creekside Intermediate School (Clear Creek Independent School District) in League City with Mrs. Julie Jezek. Bands under his direction have earned “Best in Class,” “Outstanding Overall Performance,” and UIL Sweepstakes awards. While at Downing, Mr. Richardson also had the distinct privilege of being the Associate Conductor of the Downing Middle School Symphonic Band at their performance at the 2005 Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois. Before accepting the position in the Lewisville Independent School District, he served as a Teaching Assistant for the University Bands at Texas A&M University-Commerce where he was an Associate Conductor of both the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band and Co-Director of the Athletic Bands.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Richardson also remains active in several different areas of professional development. Besides participating at numerous conducting symposia, he most recently presented a clinic designed for undergraduate music majors entitled “What’s the Next Step: Graduate School or Public/Private School?” at the 2006 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention in San Antonio, Texas. He will also present this same clinic at the 2007 Midwest Clinic. His professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association and Kappa Kappa Psi. He is a proud native of Houston, Texas.
