Marching Band FAQs

What
is the time commitment?
Rehearsals are Monday through Thursday from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. and
on Saturday mornings of home games. Auxilliary groups like Drumline, Color
Guard and Twirl-O-Jacks meet from 3:30
to 5:30 on those same days and also on Saturday mornings of home
games.

Do
I have to be a music major?
NO! LMB is made up of the finest students from all over campus representing
most academic fields.

How
much does it cost to be in LMB?
The enrollment cost of the course plus approximately $75 for polo
shirt, shoes, T-shirt, flip folder and supplies. All travel with
LMB is free. Uniforms are provided.

What
do I do if I don't have an instrument?
LMB can provide piccolos, mellophones, marching baritones, some saxophones,
sousaphones, and percussion equipment. If you are in need, we can
find you an instrument to play. There is a $25 maintenance fee per
semester for the use of these instruments.

do I audition?

Are
there scholarships?
There is an LMB scholarship that will help pay for the cost of the
class ($100-$250 for the Fall semester). These are limited and the
application for these scholarships takes place after you arrive at
SFA. These scholarships increase slightly every year that you are
a part of the Lumberjack Band.

What
sort of credit can I get for enrolling in the LMB?
All studenst receive two credits for participation in the LMB. Most
students sign up for MUP 136.001. Guard and Twirl-O-Jacks should
sign up for MUP 136.002. LMB gives you a fine arts credit as well
as a physical education credit. Transfer students may be eligible
for upper-division credit.
