Dr. Kristin Lyman is Coordinator of Music Education at Stephen F. Austin State University where she teaches undergraduate and graduate music education courses. She attended Texas Tech University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for her undergraduate and graduate studies. Lyman received a Ph.D. in Fine Arts with an emphasis in music education from Texas Tech University.

Previously, Lyman was the Coordinator of Music Education at Clayton State University in Morrow, GA where she taught courses in music education and applied percussion. She was also the Education Manager for the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and taught general music in the public school in Odessa, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia.

Lyman has presented numerous general music pedagogy and percussion workshops and clinics for students and teachers, including Why Kodály? Part I, Percussion Under the Microscope which introduces students and teachers to the traditional or accessory percussion instruments, An Inside Look at an Elementary Steel Drum Band with the Iles Elementary Panjammers, and a clinic on percussion performance practice in the K-6 classroom at the Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE) National Conference. Additionally, Lyman was the coordinator of the first annual National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy (NCPP), hosted by UNC Greensboro.
