    Trio Mélange, composed of music faculty members of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, will perform new music for soprano, horn and piano.

  • February 19: Iktus+ Combo Event Type:

    Iktus+ Combo, a modern ensemble based in New York city, features an approach comfortable in electric and acoustic worlds: smart, gritty, elegant, and head-bopping—a slick combination of classical music and straight up rock ’n’ roll.

  • February 26: Oasis Quartet Event Type:

    The Oasis Quartet has emerged out of a shared goal of interpreting dynamic repertoire at the highest level. In the tradition of fine chamber ensembles, Oasis Quartet's nuanced performances of string and wind arrangements are as fresh, authentic and arresting as their interpretations of original works for saxophone. Founded in 2006 and comprised of members Nathan Nabb, James Bunte, Dave Camwell, and James Romain, the ensemble has received rave reviews of its live performances as well as for its innovative and creative clinic and concert programming.

    Quint, an internationally renowned concert musician, will join SFA faculty members Jennifer Dalmas, violin, and Andrew Parr and Linda Parr, piano, for a chamber music concert. The program will feature two masterpieces from the piano trio repertoire, including Antonín Dvorak’s colorful “Dumky” trio and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s one-movement work “Trio élégiaque.”

    The Audio Engineering Society at SFA presents a free screening of “Thunder Soul,” a documentary produced by Jamie Foxx about bandleader Conrad “Prof” Johnson and the Kashmere High School Stage Band. A question-answer session will follow.
