How do I get audition music?
Fall Semesters:
Audition music is mailed to students in late July or early August.
Packets will be automatically mailed to all music majors and scholarship
students. Other students may call the band office to request this packet.
These audition packets are also posted on the band bulletin board at
least three weeks before the auditions.
Spring Semesters:
Audition music is posted in mid-October on the band bulletin
board.

Are there more playing opportunities at
SFA?
In addition to the Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble, there is also a Pep
Band, which plays for all home basketball games for both the men's
and women's teams. There are also chamber groups, such as saxophone
quartet, woodwind quintet, brass quintet, clarinet choir and flute
choir, which are supervised by the faculty in the instrumental area.
The Percussion Ensemble draws one of the largest audiences at their
concerts each semester. There is also a Steel Band which has a high
degree of visibility on the SFA campus and the in the community.
Many instrumentalists play in musicals and opera at
SFA as well as musicals in the local community theatre. Churches in
the area frequently perform special music involving musicians from
the SFA band.
