Four centuries of beautiful chamber music will be featured during the 2007 Chamber Music in the Pines Festival. Each of the four concerts presented by SFA faculty members and guest artists will highlight a different musical period--Baroque, Classical, Romantic and 20th Century. Join us for all four concerts for a full appreciation of the musical qualities unique to each period.

Baroque Concert

The festival's opening concert features music from 1600 to 1750, including sonatas by C.P.E. Bach and G.F. Handel and a Concert Royaux by François Couperin.

Included on this program of music written between 1750 and 1820 are string quartets by Haydn and Beethoven, Hummel's flute sonata and a piano trio by Mozart.

Showcasing music from 1820 to 1910, the program includes Felix Mendelssohn's String Quartet in D Major, a piano quintet featuring guest artist Amy Cheng and a trio featuring clarinetist Chad Burrow.

The festival's concluding concert, featuring music written from 1900 to the present, includes Igor Stravinsky's L'Histoire du Soldat, with pianist Hosoda-Ayer, and Martinu's flute sonata with Christina Guenther and Ron Petti and a trio for oboe, clarinet and piano by Destanay.
