Vocal Ensembles: Women’s Choir
Women’s Choir, under the direction of Dr. Tod fish, is a 25-voice ensemble comprised of music majors and non-music majors at Stephen F. Austin State University. The Women’s Choir affords female singers the opportunity to explore treble repertoire from the last 500 years with a special emphasis on contemporary works.
The Women’s Choir frequently collaborates with Choral Union, A Cappella Choir, and the Orchestra of the Pines in performances of large-scale choral/orchestral works including Handel’s Messiah, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Verdi’s Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and the Southwest premier of Richard Danielpour’s An American Requiem.
Membership in the Women’s Choir is open to all female SFA students. The Women’s choir rehearses twice weekly and appears in concert twice a semester. For more information, contact Dr. Fish, Associate Director of Choral Activities.
