The keyboard faculty at Stephen F. Austin State University provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to achieve their full potential as artists and educators who will make significant contributions to music. Each keyboard major student at SFA receives individual attention, instruction, and experience from professors trained at leading universities and conservatories.

  • Audition Repertoire and Preparation


      1. First or third movement of a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert OR a piece by J.S. Bach or Domenico Scarlatti played from memory
      2. One contrasting work from the Romantic era or 20th century played from memory
      3. Additional work played from memory optional (recommended if considering performance)
      4. All Major and minor scales and arpeggios played 4 octaves in parallel motion (if considering performance)
      5. Sight reading will be tested for leveling purposes


      1. Work by J.S Bach or Domenico Scarlatti from memory
      2. Complete sonata from memory
      3. Contrasting work from memory
