Minor in Music

a student listens during a masterclass with visiting composer, Marvin Hamlisch

The School of Music offers a minor in music that is complementary to many undergraduate majors. The music minor is intended to give the general college student the opportunity to formally study music while pursuing a degree in another field. Students who graduate with a minor in music may be able to enhance their future careers with music related jobs or activities; including opportunities in performance and teaching, work in the music industry, and/or music composition. A minor in music is also available only for theatre majors who wish to study voice and musical theatre.

An audition is required for applied lessons (MUP 109/309). Students should contact the individual instructor for detailed information. Large and chamber ensembles are open to all qualified students through invitation or audition.
