Bachelor of Music with All-Level Teacher Pre-Certification Options
The Bachelor of Music with All-Level Teacher Pre-Certification Options is designed to allow a student to develop specialized technical skills and knowledge appropriate for teaching musical concepts. The student takes at least sixty-five percent of the required credits for this degree program in the major area and in other supportive courses in music.
The music curriculum for the All-Level Teacher Pre-Certification Options degree program is the same as that found in the All-Level Teacher Certification Options degree program except in the areas of electives and in the total number of semester hours required. The All-Level Teacher Certification Options degree program requires 133 semester hours and includes professional education courses. The All-Level Teacher Pre-Certification Options degree program requires 120 semester hours. This makes it possible to add five semester hours of general electives, assuming that many students will use those hours to continue the professional education sequence. An additional change in the general education requirements for the All-Level Pre-Certification Options degree program would ask students to complete the Visual and Performing Arts requirement by taking a course in the arts outside of music.
